| Hi, my name is Keng Graal. ("Keng" is Chinese and "Graal" is Dutch). Born in Malaysia, bred in Singapore, I obtained my B.Sc from the University of Singapore. In 1974, I emigrated to Canada with my parents and have been teaching in Columbia College since 1975. I quickly realised the deficiency of a B.Sc from an Asian country and took courses at SFU to familiarise myself with Canadian flora and fauna. I later obtained a M.Sc in education from SFU. At Columbia College, I teach mostly Biology at the university and secondary level and on occasion, Chemistry 11 and Capps 11/12. I am also a counsellor. 1975 seems eons ago. As such I can be classified as "a fossil" and if sometimes I sound like your mother, it's because I am old enough to be one. I believe I have heard all the excuses students give for missing classes or for being late. Most important of all, I know what students like and dislike. While I won't promise you a rose garden, I will promise classes that are stimulating, challenging and rewarding. |
